Tool as Place: Public Weaving with Hellen Ascoli
By studying the complexity of knowledge produced by this tool, weaver, educator, and artist Hellen Ascoli engages with the bodies and places that have developed this loom and its many forms of shared knowledge. Latching herself to a truck, Ascoli reflects on the mobility of knowledge and the way in which a tool can actually be its own place.
Ascoli will weave at different sites in the Memphis area throughout the week. Find her locations and times daily on the Fogelman Galleries Facebook page.
This event is presented in conjunction with the exhibition "To Weave Blue (Poema al tejido)" at The Martha and Robert Fogelman Galleries of Contemporary Art," on view January 31 - March 13, 2020. Free and open to the public.
