Tennessee Artist, Kelly Fischer Comes Home, Using Memphis as Muse for “Blending Worlds II” Exhibition Debut at
MEDICINE Factory will house 25 pieces of Kelly Fischer’s works including a debut of her series “Street Art Gold,” inspired by her visits to Shelby Farms Park in Tennessee. This exhibition comes on the heels of her debut at ARTIST for Madrid Art Week and is an extension of her exhibition at New York City’s Swiss Consulate from late 2019. The artist’s ‘Street Art’ Series is an urban art project that lead viewers through the subjective labyrinths of her fertile creative mind using multiple layers of colors, shapes, lines, and movement. Through abstraction, Fischer transforms the raw emotions provoked by urban environments; in which the audience will discover characters, scenes…as their imagination takes flight where the artist’s left off.
When discussing her muse for her “Street Art Gold Series,” Fischer shares, “I was inspired to paint from the fond memories I have of hiking through the beautiful Shelby Farms park in Memphis. It seemed only fitting that I debut this new series, in not only my hometown, but in the same city that I drew inspiration from. I used color and texture, added layer by layer to capture the raw beauty I saw during my hikes at Shelby Farms. I want viewers to feel that my landscapes push them into the same world of color, light, and emotion that I feel during my time there. Much of the result is driven by unconscious creative drives.”
The Street Art Series reflect, not only the energy and exuberance of the city as a muse, but that of its creator embodied in her large-scale works. Her past exhibitions include International Contemporary Art Fairs such as SCOPE Miami, SCOPE New York, London International Art Events, and the Austria and Venice Biennales; as well as countless global shows in galleries and a variety of venues in England, Florida, New York, Spain, Switzerland, and other cities across the globe. Her work is part of the collections of the Boca Raton’s Florida Jewish Foundation; the Memphis, Tennessee Germantown Performing Arts Center; Miami, Florida’s Miami Dade College; and Bern, Switzerland’s Widmar Halle.
Viewings are available upon request from March 29 through April 13 of Kelly’s Blending Worlds II solo exhibition at MEDICINE Factory located at 85 Virginia Ave W, Memphis, TN 38106.
