Memphis Animal Services Volunteer Orientation
Volunteering at MAS is super rewarding, exciting and FUN! Walking a dog, socializing with a kitty, providing a clean shelter environment, or even giving an animal a bath or pat on the head, can have an enormous impact on the lives of all of our shelter animals. Whether you prefer working with computers or cameras, pets or people, chances are we have a way for you to get involved!Join us for this short orientation and learn how you can make a difference! ABOUT US We have fun and help make a difference by promoting these deserving animals with great photographs. We are very proud of that our photos are being used by MAS & the HSMSC. However we have not been able to get all of the animals just yet. You can also see the results of our efforts on the Pic Me Pets Facebook page. ABOUT THE EVENT You can come for as long as you can stay. There is no obligation to stay the whole time. The event usually lasts an hour and a half to two hours. No experience is necessary. If you love animals and you love to take photos, then you will fit right in. We work as a team. Our goal is to usually to get at least one good photo for each animal. WHAT HAPPENS NEXT We edit them as quickly as possible and post them to a Dropbox. The staff from them places will have access to the Dropbox and use the photos as they see fit. We are also needing volunteers for some marketing and adminstratives tasks. An example of this would be posting to various social media websites. "Once upon a time, many pets did not have a home. These animals loved to play, but this did not translate well to humans. Then one day, a group of volunteers came together to help them get some headshots. Because of this, the humans knew right away they loved to play. Until finally, one day, all the pets found loving homes." This is not just a fairy tale, This is a happening all over the world. Let's make it happen in Memphis!
